This project works on designing an aircraft apron management system for an under-constructing airport. It is expected the number of airlines will reach hundreds of sorties per day after it is put into use. The system is designed to provide seats for each inbound flight and allocate seats and keep flights as close as possible to transshipment centers to improve cargo handling efficiency.
The design process applies the Double Diamond Model.

项目描述:为在建机场设计一个自动机位分配的系统。该新机场的货运航空的航班量预计高达数百架次每天,本系统要为每个进港航班进行机位分配机位,并尽可能让航班靠近转运中心,提高货物装卸效率。
Double Diamond Model
A Persona of the typical user
After extracting common characteristics between user data obtained from the user interviews and observations, construct personas that can represent typical users and depict their goals, pain points, personalities, etc, which is helpful for assisting the subsequent design decisions.
Customer Journey Map
The customer journey depicts the process by which a customer interacts with a company in order to achieve a goal, and the map shows the daily workflow of this user. Also, it displays the mental workload of each key touchpoint, which helps the designers to recognize the design opportunities.
Info Design
Design Challenge: When user are doing their job by monitoring flight operations and adjusting their apron, in order to make seat allocation decisions appropriately, they need to view a large amount of information and combine them together. Therefore, a large amount of information needs to be visually encoded to meet the user's information needs, which are helpful to improve cognitive understanding efficiency.
Solution: Firstly enumerate the information objects and all the corresponding state attributes of them. Secondly, do the visual encoding to make the visual and semantic understanding consistent as much as possible, which helps the users understand more efficiently. The above is an example of flight information.
